CETRIB - INEGI has long been developing competencies in Tribology, Vibrations and Industrial Maintenance, i.e., everything that has to do with the Science and Technology of Friction, Lubrication and Wear, as well as their implications for Industrial Maintenance, particularly for Conditioned Maintenance of Machines by Lubricant and Vibration Analysis. For that, CETRIB - INEGI has several laboratories (ex.: Lubrication and Wear, Mechanical Transmissions, Lubricant, Vibration and Noise and Metrology Analysis) fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
In January 1991, INEGI created a new Unit devoted to Research and Development in the fields of Tribology, Vibrations and Industrial Maintenance, designated as CETRIB.
CETRIB Unit is integrated in the Research and Development Group for Experimental Mechanics and New Materials and Manufacturing Procedures of INEGI.
CETRIB is also integrated in LAETA, the Associate Laboratory for Energy, Transports and Aeronautics, which is a National Laboratory financed by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Portugal.
